Ez-Book Uses Thin Client - What is Thin Client?

A form of client/server architecture in which no data is stored and relatively little processing occurs on the client machine. It applies to a network computer without a hard disk drive, which, in client/server applications, is designed to be especially small so that the bulk of the data processing occurs on the server.

What are the benefits of thin client Computing?

Ease of management, rapid deployment and outstanding reliability. TCC also delivers a reduced total cost of ownership, which includes not only the up-front cost of the hardware, but also the price of installing, supporting and updating the device over time.

Does Thin Client Computing Differ from a Terminal-Mainframe Approach?

In three primary ways: Access to All Network Operating Environments-- Thin client computing provides simultaneous network-based access to applications running in multiple environments (including Windows, UNIX, legacy, and Java) from one graphical desktop.

The mainframe computing model usually provided a connection between the terminal and onemainframe host. Graphical Desktop Interface-- Thin clients present a user with the familiar Windows or UNIX graphical user interfaces (GUIs) and provide full support for audio and high-resolution imaging. Character terminals provided access primarily to character-based applications. Local processing-- Thin clients contain powerful CPUs that are used for a variety of display and input-output functions and also run local emulators, a web browser and Java-based applications. Character terminals provided very rudimentary local capabilities.

Does Ez-Book have experience of multi variable membership and pricing?

Absolutely - Ez-Book is designed to include flexibility in the pricing of products and services, and sites/facilities can be easily configured for multiple price recognition dependant on staff, skill sets, times of day, membership profile and category.

Is Ez-Book supported by Microsoft/Microsoft Certified Professionals?

Yes, we have a number of MCP (Microsoft certified professional) within our support team, and as a company are subscribed to Microsoft. We work with the best we can and our hardware support partner is a full Gold Microsoft Certifed Partner.

Are there any known membership/centre/database capacity issues or limitations with the Ez-Book application?

There are no limitations whatsoever - the database structure is SQL server and therefore this does not pose a problem. As an advantage, data can be purged yearly.

Do any of Ez-Book current clients' use on line booking functionality?

Hollywood bowl is our biggest user at present with apprx. 37+% of all their bookings being taken on line. We also have a specific products in the Link up range including party bookings that use the bookings engine for customers to book over the web.

What is the amount of bandwidth consumed by a typical Ez-Book Session?

As Ez-Book uses .Net remoting it is "stateless" and therefore uses negligible bandwidth when it is idle. Bandwidth consumption really depends on the loading at site - Eg. a small site taking 400 bookings a day would use more bandwidth than a large site doing 200 bookings per day.

However, as a rule of thumb you could assume as minimums:- Up to 2 terminals - 512Kbps download 256kbps Upload 3-8 terminals 1Mbps download 512Kbps Upload 9-20 terminals 2MBps download 1MBbps Upload
